I just installed SuSE 9.2 and it doesn't want to connect my wireless
card. In the kwifimanager and in yast, it looks fine. Yast recognizes
my Proxim Orinoco card just fine (ath_pci driver), and the kwifimanager
even shows many available networks and says I am connected to the "xyz"
network. But ping works only to my own IP, and web sites do not show up
(Looking for host...)

I turned off the firewall. What else can I do? Normal eth0 internet
works fine.

ifconfig output (sorry for the German output):

ath0 Protokoll:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:20:A6:4B:E6:28
inet Adresse:128.220.xxx.xxx Bcast:128.220.220.255
Maske:255.255.255.0
inet6 Adresse: fe80::220:a6ff:xxxx:e628/64
Gültigkeitsbereich:Verbindung
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:110 errors:11360 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:11360
TX packets:215 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:199
RX bytes:13635 (13.3 Kb) TX bytes:13482 (13.1 Kb)
Interrupt:10 Speicher:d8900000-d8910000

Thanks!
Markus

How do you set your ip address. By DHCP or manually. And is your 128.220 a
correct address for your setup. What does iwconfig say? If this is ok it
might be a missing default route. Look what netstat -rn says? If there is
no default route you probably received your IP by DHCP and your laptop has
a additional 100Mbit cable bound network adapter. In this case its a
setup-Problem. You then need to add DHCLIENT_PRIMARY_DEVICE='yes' to both
ifcfg-files for the 100Mbit adapter and for the wireless adapter
in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-<your network cards>. This will take care
of setting a default route for both interfaces.

If the above does not help you need to provide a little more information
about your environment in which you are working and about the wireless
network you are trying to connect to.

Tschüss
Rainer
