SuSE 9.1, network: can't get rid of wireless interface

I use a PCMCIA wireless card in my laptop running SuSE 9.1 when at home.
When I am in the office I want to use the ethernet port to connect to my
office LAN with a static IP. I have just discovered scpm and am trying to
setup the office configuration.

The problem is that after using the wireless, and cannot reconfigure for
the office. In Yast I have removed the wireless configuration and set up
eth0 for the LAN. However, the network is perpetually looking for the
wireless interface. I can see this when I restart the network or reboot.
Also, the network 169.254.0.0 always appears in the routing table. When I
delete it with route or rebuild the routing table manually using the
expert settings in yast, it reappears when the network is restarted.

ifconfig shows only lo and eth0, with the correct information. iwconfig
shows no wireless interfaces. I can ping localhost on lo and the local IP
assigned to eth0 but no other host on the LAN, including the gateway.

Where is this wireless interface configuration and 169.254 network coming
from in the network files? I had no problem configuring for the LAN until
I first used the wireless card.

Thanks in advance for any help.

John
