SuSE 10.1 imap

Hi, I have been trying to get imap working with suse 10.1 for about 4
days now and I havent gotten anyware. So I am wondering if any one as
managed to get imap working on suse 10.1.

Ok what have I tryed.

There is imap pre installed for suse 10.1 its uw imap. Thats fine all
you have to do is go to network services and start it. ok so i telnet
localhost 143 i get a messege that says

linux-server:~ # telnet localhost 143
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS STARTTLS

Then when I login with abc1 login username password (read some were
that it cant be root) comes out with

abc1 NO LOGIN failed

I am not sure what i read some were cant seem to find it again but it
told me to set auth=anonymous but befor i did that it came with a
diffrent error message that seems like it would like me in but then
kick me or something dont remember

ok so I thought ok this is gay i want this working and i cant get uw
imap working so i will try curier imap. Well after about 4 hours of
dealing with error and a massive system crash ( dont ask had to
reinstall EVERY thing but know its better) i got it to "install". but
my problom with that is i cant seem to get it to run. read that you
have to add it to the startup script dont know what that is. Yes i did
stop uw before i try starting curier. Everything is all default
locations for suse 10.1. I really would like if some one could help me
I will keep trying. If I come up with any thing I will post on here. So
if you never here from me that means that I havent fixed it yet.

OK this is good news I got curier imap working. first of all i dont
know how to start the service and becouse i am blind as a bat i dident
notice it on there site. so i finaly got that running then i had
probloms loging in. So a quick google search came up with that
solution. authdeamon wasent running. ok so another hour of googling
found the soulution to that. so now i can login. so that means that
everthing is perfect. wrong when ever i login with outlook and k-mail
it says something about inbox cant be downloaded or not being there or
something like that. so if some one could tell me how to fix that that
would be geat. do you think it has to do with my mx records on my
domain becouse i dident change that dont really know how. right now
they are set to google so i have gmai check my domain accounts. so is
it postable to keep (E-Mail Removed) and (E-Mail Removed) so i can
check thoes with gmail and ceck say (E-Mail Removed) with my own imap
server with a webmail thing i have to setup yet? sorry its late dont
feel like speel checking and doing proper grammer deal with it or
compain and i will fix it. thanks
