I'm having an extension and a stretch of Cat 5 put round the outside of the
house. Is it possible to have the network jack and phone jack in the same
surface mount box?

Yes I fitted these for a client a few months ago. www.clarity.it sell them

You can buy the assembled kits or relevant modular pieces.

Remember you need the relevant tools such as krone tool for the wiring,
although the cheap one they have will do.

I recommended these because I think they really give a professional finish
to the job. Ashame I haven't seen other finishes such as chrome etc. Oh and
I vaguely recall that maplins might have had some but they were more
expensive I think.

Best of luck

L

Yep. AAll you need is a modular 50mm x 50mm plate and one RJ45 socket
module and one BT secondary module. Most electrical wholesalers will
have these on the shelf.

What, you mean like all the BT and power cables that run down the
street and across fields and roads swaying in the breeze and attached
to the outside of buildings? I think if lightning were to hit a length
of cat5 about 20-30m long then someone is a very unlucky person, I
mean, ther's miles of cables it could hit running outside the front
door.

There seems to bea compulsion at the moment to keep on about lightening
hitting cable on the outside of houses. God help all the people in rural
USA with the miles of cable and storms thta they have.

No you are correct. There are also combo BT/RJ45 single gang sockets
in one piece that have a slightly cleaner line than using the
Euromod or ModSnap options.
