Just wondering if anybody out there uses these ?
I am looking into centrally administering our remote sites and removing some
hardware from the sites.
ATM there is:
SITEDC - HP DL360 2k3 - DC, DNS, DHCP, WINS, SAV
SITEDC2 - HP DL360 2k3 (on larger sites only)
SITENAS - HL DL100 SS 2k3SS
SITEFS - HL DL380 2k3 - Groups Backup / public dirs
SITEAPPSERV - Custom Software server
SITEAPPSERV2 - Custom Software server (Larger sites only)
What im trying to accomplish is making the setup look like this
SITEDC - HP DL360 2k3 - DC, DNS, SAV
SITEDC2 - HP DL380 2k3 (on larger sites only), FS
- SITENAS - HL DL100 SS 2k3SS (Larger Sites to keep)
Our Custom software is being centralized now so they are out of the picture.
Im am in the process of removing the WINS servers and making a primary.
Im interested in doing the same thing for DHCP. Taking it back to one
location and managing it all from here.
Of course there are issues of drop outs and the DHCP data wont get through
but if the connection drops out the custom software stops working anyway as
it runs from a persistant SQL2000 DB.
Any ideas or thoughts would be helpfull
