I have finally set up my home network. I have sucessfully connected my new
desktop computer, my laptop computer, and my old desktop computer. I can
access the internet on all three computers. I have file sharing and I can
print from all three computers off the same printer. I am having one minor
annoying problem. My network seems to shutdown after a short period of time
and I have to reboot the computers to make it work properly again. I can
access the internet on all three computers but I can't use file sharing. I am
still very unsure about network maintenance and I am afraid to make too many
setting adjustments for fear that I might mess up the works. I am learning as
much about networks as I currently have time for. In the meantime, does this
sound like a familar problem that I might be able to rectify without much
difficulty? Any help is appreciated. The reply I got to my first request
helped a lot as did reading the other posts. Thank you.

Check that any 'power options' that you have set on PCs etc do not turn off
HDDs or NICs.

Are you using a Cable Modem + Switch or a Router / Modem Como...whatever it
is check that there are any timeouts set on this or these items.
