Dear all,

we got one DSL internet connection and they install along
with router which has only one IP address for default
gateway.

Now how can I use it for my 2 differenct network ID

My default gateway is 192.168.0.61

Segment 1 : 192.168.0.1-254
Segment 2 : 192.168.1.1-254 or may be anything else.

and my ISP doesn't give any support to do so. And we want
to use one internet connection for both the segment
without their router.

Please give me the soloution what can be done.

Thanks a lot.

Soumendra

You need to set the IP address ranges (for segments and the gateway) AND the
network masks to appropriate values for Segment 1 and Segment 2 such that
they can see their own segments plus the gateway - I'll leave you to work
out the maths!

What do you mean, "without their router?"

You can change the addresses and netmasks so they work (as
suggested by Chris Watts), set up software routing, or add
a hardware router. Your choice. Minimal hardware routers
are so cheap now (I got some recently at Fry's for under
10 bucks) I'd probably go that route (no pun intended), since
it doesn't involve touching all the clients. If you don't
have very many clients, then the other options might be more
attractive (although then one wonders why you subnetted to
begin with).

CJT,

Many DSL and cable ISPs try to sell you on a plan where they provide the
routing hardware for each additional PC accessing the internet through their
service, and offer you the privilege of paying $6 or $7 per month extra for
each add'l. PC!!
