Subnet Missing in Network Browser

I have a domain with 11 subnets 192.168.1 through 192.168.11. The problem we
are having is the .6 subnet has stopped showing up in the network browsers of
the other subnets. There are two WINS servers configured. All hosts including
the ones on the .6 subnet are showing up in both DNS and WINS.

If I go to a machine on the .6 subnet (they are all workstations) all hosts
on all subnets show up in the network browser. Its only on all the other
subnets that the .6 subnet hosts aren't showing up.

I ran browstat status on an XP machine on the .6 subnet and got the
following output.

Browsing is active on domain.
Master browser name is:
Could not connect to registry, error=1707 Unable to determine build of
browser master: 1707
Unable to determine server information for browser master:123
1 backup servers retrieved from master
\\CLUBACCESS
Unable to retrieve server list from: 2351

So is this telling me there is no local master browser or what? I'm at a
loss at this point so any help would be much appreciated.

It certainly indicates that there is a problem with the browse master on
the .6 segment. Unfortunately browstat can't get the name of that machine.
Since they are all XP machines it could be any one of them.

A reboot of the problem machine should fix it up, if you can find which
one it is.

Ok well that helps a bit. If rebooting all the machines on that subnet
doesn't do it what would be the next step? Is there a way to force a new
election or force a specific machine to be master browser? Thanks for the
help.

Yes, you can change lots of parameters and registry settings, but if it
worked OK before it should work OK now. It was probably just a hiccup. If
the problem doesn't go away you can exclude the problem machine from the
possible browse masters.

Have you checked the system log of the event viewers on the machines
in the .6 network? There is a problem with the subnet master and the
backup browser. May be just a hiccup like Bill stated but you'll want
to do a bit more investigating.
