subnet mask allways greyed out

ME102 latest software. I can change every thing but the subentmask. It is
always
255.255.254.0. No matter what ip i give it Class A B C or D. subnet never
changes.. I tried restoring to factory defaults. still 255.255.254.0. If i
was using vslm would care. Netgear is no help. They say install snmp manager,
DUHH
