Hey All Your Microsoft Gun's - Quick question for you!
Im on a Windows XP Client (this issue has been tested on
upto 10-20 of them) and when I attempt to access a shared
folder on server "FS" UNC Path \\fs\staff$\user\testuser
its taking approximately 20 seconds to access the shared
folder.
Ive double checked that I have the absolute correct
permissions on the folder.
Permissions are set via Security Group on the shared
folder and it always accesses the shared folder, never
gives me an access denied, just takes a long time up to 15-
20seconds.
If I access the Server FS by simply typing in \\fs it gets
there alot faster within 3 seconds or so.
The problem only occurs I access a shared folder.
The LAN is full 100meg switched with absolutely no network
utilisation on the server during this time.
It seems to be 'authenticion' related because once a user
has accessed a shared folder that took 20 seconds to get
to the first time, the next it is very fast (2-3 secs).
Everything else on the network is quick and responsive.
What could be causing the issue gents? If you need any
more info please just ask.
