Satellite broadband might be an option (not to be confused with Sky's
broadband, which is ADSL):

It's a bit more expensive than ADSL, but maybe you could share the costs
with some neighbours - perhaps using (fixed?) wifi links between you? Also
the latency will be high so not so good for gaming or interactive sessions.
If it's two-way satellite (so you don't use a phone line as the upstream)
then you don't have to use an ISP from the UK - anyone with satellite range
over the UK will do.

You could try setting up point-to-point wifi links, which can go for a few
miles with the right antenna. Some home-grown ISPs have linked up villages
like this (mostly in the days before BT used them as free market research
for ADSL rollout). Something like:

I suppose there's also a small chance you might be able to use a better
antenna to get 3G - try a parabolic dish like a Sky dish or maybe a wok,
point it at the nearest 3G base (try to do this accurately) and see if you
can get a 3G signal with a handset or USB modem in the middle. Flaky 3G
isn't much fun though as the connection will keep dropping.
