Just started using wifi for the first time and im using my laptop a lot in
my bedroom to stream and watch divx and dvd vobs/ifos. Im using standard xp
shared folders to stream from.

Trouble is its stuttery every so often on divx/xvid and constantly with
vobs/ifo's. I increased the stream amount in WMP from the default 5 secs to
20 and that helped alot with the divx/xvid but no matter how much higher i
go it dosent get any better.

Im using G mode and i have a very good signal with nearly line of site down
the hallway. There are many wifi users in my area tho (about 5APs in range)
although there all on channels 11 and 1 so i set mine to 6. im also using
wpa encryption (any reason why i should use wpa2 instead while im talking
about it?)

Any ideas for ways i can improve the streaming quality via streaming
software or media player used and maybe even better aerials? My problem
seems to be a constantly fluctuating signal, is there a different media
player that will buffer more effectivly?

My router is astandard linksys G model using dd-wrt firmware.

Thanks for any help as its all new to me.

Gordy

Streaming video over wifi is generally not 100% perfect - as you have
found out. Not much to be done I'm afraid.
