Strange issue with line

Hi,

Am posting this to the broadband group to see if anyone from the group
can put anything on this - originally went to Aaisp group.

About three weeks ago my connection went down to around 500kbps and it
had been around 7mb before. We eventually got BT to do some work,
which fixed the problem, but it was then around 6.5mb.

Over the weekend it dropped again to about 4mb, but it has been up and
down like a yoyo ever since.

At the same time, we are getting complaints that our line is very
bad/crackly all the time, and I really noticed it yesterday.

This evening I have tried using the test socket, and found that with
everything as it should be - i.e, single splitter with analog phone
(standard handset) and router connected, we get crackling - almost as
though there is no splitter. If I unplug the broadband, the crackling
stops, and if it is plugged back in, I can actually hear it start up
again.

I plug the analog phone in to the test socket without a splitter and
everything is fine.

I changed the splitter (I have two extra) and the same thing happens.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

I am not sure know whether this is our kit playing up or not.

Andrew.

There have been reports of certain router power supply adaptors causing
noise on the line affecting either voice or ADSL or both. Can you try a
different power supply adaptor?

Completely different router gives the same problem, as well as
different cables from the router to splitter, different cable from
router to firewall, different phone, etc. Have called engineer in as
it is just awful.
