Hi,
We have a Windows 2003 server with Service Pack 1 installed (security
configuration wizard is not installed). The server is a member server
in a single Forest/Tree/Domain Active Directory environment. The
server is running Exchange 2003 with Service Pack 1 installed.
Both the Active Directory and Exchange are running at 2003 operational
level (native mode).
The Winows Firewall is disabled, and there is no other firewall
software installed.
When logging into the server from the console (or unlocking the
console from the screensaver), the "Log on to:" box contains the
computer name, not the domain name. The box is greyed out and will not
allow you to access the drop down list and choose the domain. However,
it is possible to specify the domain in the username field ( either
domain\username or fully.qualified.domain\username will work ) and log
onto the domain.
Once logged into the domain using the above method, you can access any
network resources as normal. Exchange authentication etc seems to be
unaffected.
The server has 3 NICs, two of which are disabled. The IP address
WINS/DNS, default gateway etc are all static. It is able to ping
anywhere on the network. DNS and WINS are setup correctly. This
doesn't seem to be causing any connectivity issues at all - it's just
weird...
Anyone have any insights into this strange phenomenon?
