Stop Verification of Mapped Network Drives

IS there a way of Stopping XP PCs verifying/Validating mapped network drives
when using explorer/my computer to browse. We here use alot of mapped network
drives, mapped via net use commands in login scripts.

IF the drive does not get mapped, and is in the status of "Disconnected
network drive" then the whole of Windows explorer experiences delays whilst
browsing etc
I think XP must try to verifiy the connection to all the network drives
before it does anything.

Thanks for any response

I'm not sure (an XP group might be a better place to ask that) but I'd be
more concerned about the presence of a nonfunctioning mapped drive. Start
your login script with

net use * /del

and then append /persistent:no to each of your net use mappings....

And keep mapped drives to the smallest possible number.

The only fix that I'm aware of is to stop using so many mapped drives,
and instead use mount a DFS root and put everything else that you'd
previously have mapped as a drive letter into the mapped DFS root
instead.
