Every few minutes my PC will pick up what I assume to be a neighbors
wireless signal and a screen will pop up. Can I disable my PC from
detecting other networks. Windows XP SP1 with a built in wireless card
using the default Windows configuration tool. Thanks

WindowsXP-SP2 will allow you to specify those "other" networks as manual
connect. Then they won't bother you anymore. The only problem is if there
is a network that you want, and a network that you don't want, that have
the same SSID.

You can disable the Wireless Zero Configuration Service on XP that's making
the machine seekout other networks and trying to connect to them. You
disable WZCS and it will stop doing it -- period.
