Hi,

I don't have much experience with SMTP on a Microsoft Server. I installed
SMTP and I'm trying to send a message to an outside email address. I get an
error message in Event Viewer that says:

Message delivery to the host 66.218.86.199 failed while delivering to the
remote domain yahoo.com for the following reason: The connection was dropped
by the remote host.

It doesn't matter where I try to send it, it still gives the same error
message.

I don't have Exchange running or anything....

Ok, I just saw this item.

SMTP 4006 errors are usually vreated becasue of somone elses mail system.

Your are probably DNS related. You will want to make sure that you have an
MX record,a PTR record, and prefferabley an SPF record or most mail systems
will refuse to accept mail from your relay.
Not all, but most.
check out www.dnstuff.com and www.dnsreports.com for mor information and
some good utilities.
