Still have network, lost internet

There are three computers on my network (running through an
MN-500) all XP.

Out of the blue, the computer I use and work on (connected
via USB wireless) stopped being able to access the
internet. The only change I can think of was an XP update
(something about http.sys)

I've tried powering down (and back up) the MN-500 base
station. Same result.

Tried switching to an ethernet cable connection. Same result.

Tried resetting the base station. Same result.

Ran the command prompt ipconfig/all and it's getting an ip
address.

What, if anything else, can I do???

Have you restarted your computer? Are you running any third party
firewalls?

which I disabled once I started troubleshooting.

I should say that there was one other update that coincided
with the http.sys (Update for Windows XP KB887742) and it
was a security update for Windows Messenger (KB887472).

I've forgotten about system restore... first time I've used it.

It feels good posting from my own computer again.
