Hello,

I'm supporting a net work now and I'm a programmer see
the problem? ha ha. Can anybody provide me with good
documentation on setting up a network? Specifically I
want to know the difference using static IP verses using
DHCP to issue IP throughout the network.

I learn by reading so any hyperlink or documentation will
be appreciated.

Network made up of Windows(98/NT/2000Pro/XP)

Mike

Static IP addressing is fine for small networks that rarely change. Dynamic
IP addressing is usually best so when you add a new system or change one out
you don't need to worry about what addresses are or aren't available.

Using either static or dynamic addressing has no effect on network
performance so the choice is really a personal one.
