i add a static mac address on my win xp client machine for my gateway
device like below:

arp -s 192.168.1.1 00-02-4c-1a-20

it works well but when the computer is restarted, static entry loses.
is there a way to add this static entry permanently?

Hello eko007,

Why didn't you configure the default gateway address on the NIC itself?

Best regards

I already configured default gateway as 192.168.1.1 on the NIC. But I
think there is a virus on the network that uses "arp spoofing" method
as far as understand. Because I'm monitoring client machine's arp cache
with a program called "WinARP Watch" and it shows me the other client
machines' mac address' on the network instead of gateway device's.

I mean default gateway ip's mac address changes occasionally. That's
why I try to add a static mac address to client machine's arp cache
until I delete the virus on the network.

Hello eko007,

What Virus do you have? Better search for a solution to get rid of it on
all the machines.
