hi.
got vigor 2500 and staic ip from isp.Need to configure it so my linux
boxes are accesibble from internet as file serves web servers. For start
remote access to one master server will be fine.than let the server
manage other linux boxes.
What would be the step by step configuration.

os is ubuntu

i imagine that remotly on my laptop in remote loaction i would go
ssh:my ip address and it would log me in and got/look@/play the files i
need

or i go http:my ip address and i get my web served to me from my
server.

i got only one static ip

should i use some sort of vpn?

botom line is to connect from remote location to my server home and get
as much control possible over my server files,web,ftp,ssh,vm-ware
machines.

What would be the ideal setup vith minimum isp investment buying more
ip's etc...

whta is the theorie and howtos?

Check the manual for your router for "port forwarding" and set it up to
forward ports 22,80 etc to your "master server".
