Hello,

We have a few Dell servers with the dual NIC's in them running server 2003
STD.
We generally disable the 2nd Nic on every server. On a few servers, when we
set a static IP address and exit, then go back into the properties of TCP/IP
it shows it set to DHCP again. However when you run an ipconfig, the static
info is there. Rebooting has no effect, properties still shows DHCP but IP
Config shows the correct static address. there does not appear to be any
issue other than this. The servers seem to function fine. (one is even a
domain controller)

any ideas?

thanks!

Clawless

I've had this problem intermittently for years. Do you see "Local Area
Connection #3" (and other numbers that make no sense in your config)? The
fix (for me) was to put on my hip waders and go into the registry, carefully
get rid of *everything* related to the NICs in
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network. Then reboot, reload the
drivers if prompted, and start over. If it's possible to disable one of the
NICs in the BIOS, go for it.
