this is my first time ever trying a setup like this. and my idea isnt
working out.

i have a mn-700 connected via dsl. it connects 3 machines wired, and 2
wirelessly. i need to setup one of these machines to be accessable
through the web.

i hav a static ip frop my isp. is this kind of set up possible with a
mn-700? if so how can it be done?

you'd have to put the static on the WAN and then forward ports to
the appropriate machine behind the router (which should be given a
static IP in the 192.168.2.x or appropriate private IP space). The
port would depend on whether a web server, ftp, RDP, etc. and bear
in mind that some ISPs have TOS restrictions against running
servers.

so i need to change the wan setting? the wan setting is as dynamic. i
change the setting to static and enter all the information provided by
the isp? how can access one machine with an ip though the net but not
the others, without interfering with the connection of the other
machines?

the isp is aware of what i am trying to do so its no problem.

if you have a static from your ISP, yes, on the WAN.
to access the computers, you would need to forward ports to those
machines. so if you want to RDP to desktop A, you'd forward port
3389 to the private IP of Desktop A. then you'd RDP to the static IP
or hostname and it would automatically reach Desktop A

Log into the router and make the changes.

you could always use internet connection sharing, that might be easier than
what i am reading in the replies (you call yourself computer nerd and they
are telling you to forward ports etc, go to the local lib or do a google on
how to set up a network but to answer the main question , yes you can have
wired and wireless on the same net, as the mn700 is a wireless router/access
point

i only suggested it because he clearly stated hisself as "computernerd",
after reading 4-5 replies no one ansewred his question, just alot of yech
info. that is why after suggesting he get reading material, then if all else
fails try ics to get up and running until he could get up to speed. i dont
like ics, but ics vs no net??? and ics is a good basic networking 101.
THOSE WHO CAN, DO. THOSE WHO CANT TEACH?? WELL IF YA CANT DO IT YA GOT NO
RGHT TEACHING (no disrespect but i always hated that saying
