Hello All,

I have a very strange problem and I don't know where to start.
The environment is this:

small business server 2003 - domain controller, dns server, exchange
server, fileserver
Server 2003 standard - terminal server, terminal license server

30+ workstations- win XP

Problem:

>From time to time the gateway address on the standard server changes to

192.168.0.5 all by itself. The correct gateway address is 192.168.1.5.
The .0.5 was once our gateway but the subnet was changed well before
the standard server was implemented.

What could cause this automatic change? How do I make sure that the
STATIC CONFIGURED address does not change in the future?

Thank you in advance.

Marius

IS the machine using DHCP for its addressing?
If so it might also be using DHCP for default gateway.
Look to see if your DHCP server is set to advertise the old address as the
default.
Also do you ICMP redirects enabled? If so maybe a router on your network is
trying to redirect traffic to the old gateway address....
