Hello All,
Happy New Year!
I have a win 2K Adv server all patched no problems, or so I thought.
I had to reboot the server after changing the ip addressing scheme of the
LAN, and for some reason the ip address of the gateway is changing when the
server reboots, even though the NIC is defined with static ip addreses the
old gateeway ip that was defined was 192.169.2.1, it is now 192.168.20.200
when I reboot it changes to the old ip, but the ip info is defined, not
aquired

Any ideas why the gatewat ip address is changing?

Thanks for any ideas.

MMJII

Interesting please use below link.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257748

Example;

netsh interface ip set address "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.10
255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 1

192.168.0.10 : IP ADRESS
255.255.255.0 : SUB NET MASK
192.168.0.1 : YOUR DEFAULT GATEWAY
1 : METRIC

Hakan,
Thanks foe your time, and advice.
I did additional testing and I noticed that the server does not change the
gateway when I unplug my 2K3 SBS server from the network. Therefore there
musr be a setting on the 2K3 SBS that is overiding my static gateway setting
on the 2K Adv server. Any ideas what that could be?

Thanks

I had to rerun the CEICW on the 2k3SBS server to change the GW ip addresss,
I still don't know why a statically set ip address gets changed.
