I have recently noticed a number of static entries when running ARP on Vista
business. I have not (consciously) installed any Static entries by script or
manually. When I deleted the entries, others soon were added to arp cache.
The only reason I actually noted these has to do with my efforts to
investigate whether adding static entries would gain me any performance
gains in resolving node on the local area network, as I mention, was
surprised to find these entries already added.
Why are there static class "d" multicast entries cached on my system? Is
this a MS 'feature' on Vista/Server 2008 systems?
The Simple Service Discovery Protocol, should be, the origin for the
239.255.255.250? why would it be configured as a static entry?
1. Should I be concerned?
2. How to find the source that is adding these static entries?
3. What use are they to me?
