Startup Problem with D-link USB Network Card

I use a D-Link wireless router, and recently installed a D-
Link 120+ USB network card on a PC served by the router.
The OS for that PC is Windows ME. Installation appears
normal and the USB device works exactly as it should --
until I shut down the PC. Then when I attempt to restart,
the computer freezes on the Windows ME screen and will not
proceed. If I restart in safe mode and uninstall the
device, the computer returns to normal startup. D-Link
says it's a problem with Windows ME. D-Link suggested a
workaround --- unplug the USB device before restarting the
computer, and then plug it back in after startup. This
ususally works, but I would like to be able to leave the
device plugged in. It's a real hassle if I forget to
unplug it before startup.

Anybody know of a fix to this problem? If so - please
respond by email as well as posting.

Thanks
Mike

I've had very similar problems with a netgear wireless
card on a dell laptop. I can install and operate, but
when I reboot, windows explorer will not function. On my
desktop, I tried a Linksys USB wireless net adapter and
had similar results, great success until reboot and the
system becomes unstable. Please let me know if you find a
fix.
