i want to start a home network to do the following:

1) music server to allow music around the house (i have purchased the
sonos system)

2) allow small business server 2003 r2 to operate allowing push email
and allow remote access to outlook from my mobile/pds

3) host website

i am relatively new to networking and need advice to start on what
harware to purchase. most website concentrate on one type of
application eg music server or business use or database etc while what
i am looking for is jack-of-all setup. i

can someone recommend a place where i can find info or advice
regarding the above.

I don't think you could buy a PC nowadays that wouldn't be able to do what
you want, although Linux might be a better OS to use as it is less
resource hungry than most MSFT systems.

HP do a range of servers, look for one that runs cool and quiet and
doesn't use a lot of power.

2 and 3 will happily co-exist on the same machine , and to be honest it's
not going to cause many problems having your music server on there too.
The hardware requirements for all three aren't anything special - SBS will
run on quite modest machines when it's only supporting a couple of clients.
