When I logon a Windows 2000 Pro, it came up with

"Unable to log you on because the netlogon services is not running on this
machine" .... I am unable to logon local administrator

Would it be possible to start the service in Safe mode? But I am unable to
logon safe mode either.....

Hi,

Try logging on in recovery console. You can then list services and check the
status of NetLogon service. If the service is disabled you can enable it and
set it to start automatically when system starts.

How To Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows 2000

I hope this helps,

Mike

Netlogon service?

In addition to Miha's suggestions, can you also post configuration info from
this machine, such as an ipconfig /all, and what the AD DNS domain name that
it's joined to?

This can also be caused by a virus.
