I just bought the MN820 laptop kit, base station/access pt
and laptop pcmcia card, and a MN730 pci card adapter. The
intent was to replace a set of powerline/AC outlet bridges
between the cable modem in the basement and the desktop,
and add my laptop wirelessly.
The instructions instruct the base station/access pt must
be wired to a computer? Can I remove it to the basement
later, after installation? Emulating the standalone
powerline setup is preferred, standalone (sans computer)
access pt and wireless desktop and laptop in different
areas.
Is this possible or must I run cable for modem to desktop,
and send the pci card back?

After you set it up with a wired computer, you can connect it to the
cable modem and ALL of your computers can be wireless.
