For years, I telnetted to a linux shell from home, with
a modem program... simpler times Now, I use an SSH connection
via a browser to connect to the shell.

How can I access disk drives (C:\ D:\ ...) on the local
windows machine from which I start and use the telnet shell ?

I want to transfer files from a disc in the drive in front
of me, to the machine where the shell runs_ or, from that to the
disk. Seems simple, but I haven't figured out how yet

I know there are applets that do this, but I am looking for
a linux solution... something I can do directly from my login shell.

Ah,well then an ssh program with file transfer would be good for that.

putty is one.

I dont know if putty supports 'pull', but it will push.

What are pull and push? Putty has pscp (its version of scp), but it
probably has to be in your Windows PATH to use it easily (have not tried
it because I normally run Linux).
