Hi,

I'm using the default squid from RH8, without changing the default conf
settings. I'm wondering why my google searches are not cached:

- - - - >8 - - - -
1067964423.471 RELEASE -1 FFFFFFFF DBB273BB6DC3E92AF4A93AE554C0661C 200 1067964408
-1 -1 text/html 3400/3400 GET http://www.google.com/advanced_group_s
earch?
1067964433.890 RELEASE -1 FFFFFFFF 26BFDF4B97B8E870E5809A6786B0E054 200 1067964398
-1 -1 text/html -1/10878 GET http://www.google.com/groups?
- - - - >8 - - - -

How can turn it on for cache. Thanks

I tried to comment out the ? from squid.conf, as below.

hierarchy_stoplist cgi-bin #?
acl QUERY urlpath_regex cgi-bin #\?

But still doesn't work (after restart):

1067966229.780 RELEASE -1 FFFFFFFF BF9B8FA30D38917C71C68A9D15820B22 200 1067966198
-1 -1 text/html 3400/3400 GET http://www.google.com/advanced_group_sea
rch?

Please help. Thanks

Incidentally, if you're using Mozilla pop over to
http://www.mozdev.org/. There's a cool little plug in that can
show you the http headers in a window as you browse.

Because Google specifies "Cache-control: private" to tell shared
caches not to cache the page (unless they can limit distribution
to the correct user/session perhaps).

Because url contains some ? characters, and Squid by default (but it can
be changed in squid.conf) doesn't cache URL containing ?s.
Actually, it doesn't make sense caching such URL because they refer to
dynamically generated pages (eg PHP output).
