Squid problems (first time run).

Hi,

I've configured squid to run on my Slackware server.
I've read the manual and configured everything ok, but when I try to start
the server it can't create/access swap files.
So, I've run "squid -z" to initialize the files, but I receive this error
message:

FATAL: Failed to make swap directory /var/lib/squid/cache/00: (13)
Permission denied
Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE6): Terminated abnormally.

Can anyone help me?

Have you checked the directory permissions? Do the directories exist? Is
the parent squid cache directory owned by the squid userid?

The squid cache directory was not owned by the squid userid.
It's working now.
