sql scan

Im scanning our wan for sql server and MSDE instances and find this very
boring exersize. I need advice for the tools I should use to make this task a
bit easier. My questions are below:
1. what query can give me all ip ranges, that must be scan?
2. what tool and query I should use to get a report which shows me all
registered sql server instances in our AD?
