I've seen a Speedtouch 780 for sale locally which I'm interested in
buying. It was supplied with Virgin broadband. I'm wondering if Virgin
supply these unmodified and with the standard installation CD etc so I
can use it with Pipex without any hassles, or perhaps it is tweaked in
some way?

Could anybody familiar with this package comment pls...

TIA

It will be a standard product.

You don't need a CD to set it up - it can be done very easiliy using a
web browser.

Ask the guy to set to factory defaults before ship and it will
automatically prompt you to configure when connected to PC.

It's a great piece of kit too.

I've had one for a few months now as I needed to upgrade when my wife bought
a laptop and wanted to go wireless.

The web interface is a little quirky but it's a very well specced device and
very capable once you get the gist of it.

Hard reset it, connected to USB, used quick install wizard up and
running in 2 mins. Seems pretty good!

Hmmm the mind boggles. :-)

I never got one of those with mine.

Perhaps I should complain. :-)

If your equipment supports it set it for WPA2 with AES encryption.

At the very least make sure you're using WPA.

There's a very handy random password generator at the following address
which you might also find useful.

https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm
