I've got one with the 4.0.0.92 firmware (I think).
It copes nicely with static, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be able
to cope with dynamic IPs.
Firewall : Depends what you're after. It's set for maximum security out of
the box. No incoming connections allowed. If you know you've got certain
ports needed, you can set up a NAT entry just for those, but that's about
the extent of that.
It has UPnP, which means instant messenger apps can make their own NAT
entries.
TBH, the only reason I've got _any_ holes in my firewall, is because I run
several virtual web servers, running from different ports, so people can
connect to me on a set port, and they get a specific section of a web site.
If you don't need this, you'll probably never have to adjust the firewall at
all, and leave it in the normal secure mode.
FWIW, opening up 7777 7778 7787 7788 will allow you to _host_ an Unreal
game.
HTH
