How nauseating! Installed Speedtouch 330 software, plugged in the
modem, restarted - no lights on the modem! Various attempts to find
the modem result in it (and my USB joystick, which was fine
previously!) not being recognised.

Anybody else had these probs? And more importantly, how did you fix
em?

I've got XP with SP1 installed

What driver are you using Anthony ? I think the link on UK-bug (link
in sig) has the ISO for v2.01 of the driver. Maybe you could try
that?

I can`t comment on XP - I refuse to touch it full stop.

I`ve got a set of drivers online if you want to try them :

Connect to: phoenixbbs.ath.cx
Login : speedtouch
Password : speedtouch

Download these (if you don`t already have newer)

PPPoA_0-38_VCMUX.zip
SpeedTouchUSB 2.0.1.2 update.exe

- there`s also a little guide courtesy of Pipex for setting them up if
you like, as well as the full CD in a subdirectory that came with mine
originally.

What chipset have you got in your motherboard, and are you using any
other USB devices - it may work if you take everything else out - the
speedtouch modems take a lot of power, and some USB ports shut themselves
down for safety when devices try to take too much current.

You may find a powered USB hub (seperate power supply) will solve the
problem.

Could be that your USB is not able to supply the required current to
the modem which is why you are losing the joystick as well. My 330
worked no problem but I have since transferred it to a powered USB
hub because of it supposedly being a bit heavy on current.
