Speedbooster - is it on?

I have recently installed a WRT54GS, and it works great. I have a laptop
connected wirelessly to this network, and it has some king of G wifi card
built in.

When I check to see the connection speed on the laptop, it usually say 54,
occasionally lower, sometimes down to 32 or so.

Do I need to turn "Speedbooster" on, or is it only compatible with other
Linksys speedbooster equipment. If so, how do I do it? And what effect can I
expect?

I'd really like to be able to move large files quicker between my main PC,
connected via NIC to the router, and the laptop.

Thanks in advance

Chris
