What speed router

Query please..

Not technically minded, if the cost wasn't a problem would it be better to
go for a High Speed 125mbps router
or with a 54mbps.. Required just for home use. Would I get any advantage out
of 125.?

I think wireless routers currently come with connection up to 108Mbps

The advantage is higher speed on local connections. Your speed to the rest
of the net is determined by your network side connection. Usually ADSL the
fastest I am aware of has 24Mbps downlink. Uplink is usually around an
order of magnitude slower.

If you are not using the router to talk between your own PC's and
peripherals then there will be no current advantage of the higher speed
beyond a very slight reduction in latency

I suspect that is the speed of the WiFi section, not the WAN
section!

If this is the case then unless you want to ship huge files around
on your local network there will be no great advantage in the higher
speed.

The speed that you are referring to is the speed of the wireless part of the
connection. To gain any benefit you would need to have your computer fitted
with a card that runs at the same speed. If you are simply wanting to
connect a single computer ask yourself if you need a wireless router at all.
www.adslguide.co.uk has lots of information that it would be worth reading
before making a decision.

Thanks All for explanation... Its only for 1 PC and a Laptop when I use it
occasionally
in the conservatory. I shall go for the 54mbps version.
