Speed - how much does a webcam affect it?

I just did a speed test on a few of the sites that are available for
such, and got lower than I expected.

At the time of the test, I was simply 'surfing' (doing the test) but my
daughter had her webcam going and was chatting 'wiv ma m8s'(!!) via MSN.

So, how much of an impact on the speed test would the webcam make? Is
this a 'how long is a piece of string' question?

FTR, I am on a ADSLmax upto 8mb product with my ISP. I got a speed
result of 4.5mb down, and circa 300k up. I'm fairly close to the
exchange.

addendum : she was only 'sending' her cam, and wasn't 'receiving' anyone
else's.

why not do a test of each setup one after the other and get an accurate
idea?
