Speed increase - not happy

I've re-graded my account With Zen from the 2Mb to the 8Mb service.

The upgrade was completed on 12/3/2007 but I have not noticed an
increase in download speed.

BT Speed Tester reports 1869 kbps
PC Pitstop reports 1852 kbps

My Netgear router shows:

Upstream Downstream

Connection Speed: 8128 448
Line Attenuation 22.0db 12db
Noise Margin 12.3db 23b

I know that there is a 'training' period but should I have noticed an
increase over the last 5 days

Any ideas

Martyn

You're on Max with the highest possible connection speed.

How about using the speed tester at thinkbroadband.com ? Or here...
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

Then get back to us.

What does it show your "IP Profile" is?

Someone has forgot to remove the speed cap. Ring the ISP and tell them....

Hoe long have you been on MAX? If it is longer than 10-14 days your ISP may
still be 'screwing' you down to the 2Mb you started from.

May be worth a call to your ISP (if & only if you have been on MAX for that
period)

IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1817 kbps

17/3/2006 @ 12:20pm

So you are getting decent speeds for your IP Profile. After the 10 day
training period, check to see if the Profile has increased - it should
go to 7150 based on the figures you've given.

If the Profile does not increase after 10 days, contact your ISP has it
may be stuck (term to use with ISP is "stuck BRAS profile").

So basically you will have to wait to see if the Profile is increased
automatically as it should be or if it needs a poke. The ISP will not
ask BT to check it before that 10 days is up, as the point of the 10
days is to let the equipment select the correct profile based on sync
speed/line conditions etc.
