::Hi guys,:
::My friends and I have a problem with a kind of topology for wireles
networking. For more than two weeks we are trying configuration afte
configurations, changing antennas, firmware,… but nothing stable goe
out. I will try to describe what we wish to organize, hoping tha
someone of you already has such experience and can help us.:
::We have an Internet service provider (ISP), which is located 2.5 k
away from my house. A friend of mine lives about 2km in anothe
direction from my house and another one lives at about 800m in thir
direction. We thought to put an omnidirectional antenna and a WRT54GS
configured as an access point (AP), at the roof of my house, and othe
three WRT54GS but configured as clients, with directional antennas â€
at the ISP location and at roofs of my friends’ houses. :
::What we observe is that all clients connect the AP without an
problem – we rarely have lost packets (1KB) pinging the AP or
computer connected to its built-in switch. However, the ping form
client to another client through the AP is horrible – more than 70
lost. We observed that generally the ping from the AP to any of th
clients is not OK – it sometimes gives up to 40% lost. This situatio
obviously excludes any possibility for my friends to have Internet fro
that ISP. :
::Probably if we could configure the Linksys at the ISP as an AP i
would work. However an AP does not connect to another AP. From anothe
hand, an AP should stay on the roof of my house. Otherwise, my friend
wouldn’t be able to connect to the ISP through it. :
::We tried many firmware editions and router configurations but withou
success. For the moment, I am the only that has Internet, havin
configured my router as client and the router at the ISP location as a
AP.:
::We would appreciate any help from anyone!:
::Thanks in advance!:
