I have a problem with spamassassin -- I can't tell that it runs. I'm
not sure if this is an appropriate newsgroup. On one hand, SA > mail so
that fits. OTOH, there might be a group that fits better. What say
you?

Spamassassin isn't a shell and probably doesn't belong in
COLN

If you aren't sure if it's running, you need to re-read the
docs:

http://spamassassin.apache.org/doc.html

Shell? I don't think it is. And what do shells have to do with
networking anyhow?

Let me rephrase that: I'm sure it's not running, unless I invoke it
manually.

I've got ~/.forward and ~/.procmailrc as it describes.

Ah, well, you're the one who posted this into comp.unix.shell and
comp.os.linux.networking, so that's something you'll need to ask
yourself ;>)

Try one of the spamassassin specific lists.

Hint for when you do: describe *how* you're trying to
invoke it -- you know, something specific.

Oops. Teach me to clean up incompletely a followed-up-to article.

Subscribed.

Yeah, first I was going to find out if I was in the right place.
coln=maybe, cus=NO.

In a shell: ps auxw|grep spam

I think the daemon is spamd.
I used to run it but got fed up with it and anyway, it only took me about 15
seconds to delete up to 100 spam emails.
