Winserver 2003.
I have removed inherited permissions to a folder and added differing rights
for users and groups. These appear to apply to files in the folder at the
time the rights are assigned. How do I apply these rights to files which
are subsequently moved into this folder?
According to the information in the Permissions dialog box, these rights
should be applied to Folders, Sub Folders and Files!

Yes, I know it's going to be something like mega obvious, but please humour
me.

TIA

Phil

Hi Phil,

New files that you will add to the folder will automatically inherit
permission from it's parent folder. The only exception to this would be
moving files on the same partition (volume) to this folder. In this case,
one thing that you could do is just copy (instead of move) the file to the
folder and in the end remove files from original location.

How Permissions Are Handled When You Copy and Move Files and Folders

I hope this helps.
