My girlfriends Sony Vaio no longer connects to my open, unencrypted network
at home. It will connect to some of the neighbors networks, but it just says
"waiting for network" endlessly, and never authenticates. It seems to be
having trouble connecting to more and more networks, I have one at work she
can't connect to either that's got WPA protection and an unbroadcast SSID,
which I configured a month ago to connect to her computer, but now it
doesn't.

We can't seem to figure out what to do. It uses the Intel PRO Wireless LAN
2100 3B card. I use a Dell 700M and seem to have no problem connecting to my
network, and so does my Mac Powerbook G4. My router is a Linksys WRT54G with
the latest firmware installed.

Any suggestion would be appreciated, she's about to throw it out the window.

I forgot to add that when the computer is connected to my router with an
ethernet cable, it has no problem. Only through wireless, it endlessly waits
for network.

I solved the problem. I had turned my network into a "G" only network, and
her laptop card is "B" only, not "G". Mystery over.
