I have noticed this several times while shutting down my ME machine (and
sometimes on the W98se machine too, same 2 computer network), windows
informs me that several users are connected to my machine, sometimes it
tells me their user names and thay are not anyone I have invited in.

Is there any way to monitor who is connected at any one time? Can I stop
this?

Thanks everyone.

Mike

Hmmm,...very interesting. Can you provide some details
about your network. Is it a simple network comprised of
direct or cross connected cables? Do you have what you
believe to be LAN? If so, does it contain a Router..or a
Hub...or a DSL modem?

Use Net Watcher to monitor the network. To install it, go to Control
Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup | System Tools. To run
it, either click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Net
Watcher or click Start | Run, type "netwatch" in the box, and click
OK.

To stop other Internet users from connecting to your machine, install
a firewall program.

Install a firewall (hardware preferred).
