My Network Places is - to put it nicely - hinky and unreliable. You are
experiencing a computer browser problem (has nothing to do with your
web browser). With so many computers, you will be better off to forget
about My Network Places. Instead, create a folder on your Desktop
called something clever like "Network". Then use Search>for computers
on the network to find shared resources on the other computers.
Right-click-drag from each resource to the new Network folder and
choose "Create a shortcut here". Now you will have shortcuts to all the
shared resources. You can remove the My Network Places icon from the
Desktop from the Display applet>Desktop>Customize button.
