I've tried installing drivers and then attaching the device, installing the
drivers, rebooting and then attaching the device, attaching the device and
inserting the install CD when the new hardware wizard starts. I think that's
all combinations. Unfortunately I have install instructions from my ISP (who
supplied the modem) and two sets from Solwise, the manufacturer/distributer.
All the instruction sets vary but as I've tried various drivers and various
installation sequences I am at a loss to know what to do next.
It just seems a strange coincidence that the only other problem experience
I've found in researching this is with another I8000 owner. I can return the
modem for an exchange but I would rather get this working. The drivers are
not MS certified but they are supposed to be XP compatible and I did find an
instruction set for installation specifically onto XP. I suppose the modem
might be faulty but it is recognised correctly when attached and there is
that nagging I8000 coincidence.
Any more ideas?
