I wasn't able to see my 98 on my 2k or visa versa,
although they belonged to the same workgroup. Search/Find
computer showed no results. But when I went to Start, Run
and entered \\machine name, it appeared with all shares
visible and applications were not longer asking me to log
on to \\server\IPC$

Add the Win98 logon name and password to the Win2000 user list and
grant appropriate permissions. Any system that tries to access a
Win2000 share across the LAN must be defined in the user list.

Good Luck...

have u same File Systems(e.g. FAT32) on both OSs?

try giving fixed IP addresses to both and tell both to
search each other on the network, from both PCs.
