Not a Windows question, but I wanted to ask what is your favorite SSH
client? Running Windows 2003 and there are a lot of freeware out there to
choose from. I would rather pick something that someone recommends from
these groups.

SecureCRT blows away putty, terraterm, F-Secure, etc (but SecureCRT is not
free)

Depending on what I'm trying to do, I use Cygwin (for shell access/port
forwarding) or Filezilla (for file xfers.)

Depends what you're trying to do. PuTTY for general mischief. If I just
wanted to shift files around, FileZilla.

I'm always surprised at "professionals" who STILL have to be asked:
"Have you checked (event viewer / syslog)".

I like OpenSSH:

http://sshwindows.sourceforge.net/download/

Easy, complete with functionality, same as on any other platform.

And unfortunately, very much outdated/abandoned. CopSSH is a good alternative
(Google it.)

I noticed it's outdated but I have yet to feel the need for new
functionality esp. in the client. Cygwin (www.cygwin.com) tends to have the
most recent version - it's the same but lacks installer.

I personally use Cygwin as well, and this page explains how to set up a Windows
SSH server with it:
